Coaching, Not Ghostwriting.
Strong writing develops through time, reflection, and guided revision—not through shortcuts or replacement of a student’s voice. My role is to help students think more clearly, articulate their ideas with confidence, and revise with intention, while ensuring that the work they submit is fully and authentically their own.
Ethics and Approach
I work closely with students as a coach and guide, not as a ghostwriter. I do not write essays for students, nor do I rewrite their work in ways that replace their thinking or voice. Instead, I support students through:
Thoughtful questioning and conversation
Feedback that highlights strengths and areas for growth
Suggestions that help students clarify structure, focus, and evidence
Guided revision strategies that empower students to make their own decisions as writers
Every sentence in a final draft belongs to the student.
The Revision Mindset
At the heart of my work is The Revision Mindset—the understanding that writing is a process of discovery. Revision is not simply about correcting mistakes; it is about refining ideas, strengthening voice, and learning how to communicate with greater precision and purpose. This mindset helps students:
Develop confidence in their ideas
Understand writing as thinking
Approach feedback as a tool for growth rather than judgment
Build skills that extend far beyond a single essay or application
Student Ownership and Integrity
I place a high value on academic integrity and student ownership. Students retain full authorship of their work at every stage of the process. My coaching aligns with the expectations of schools and colleges, and I am transparent with both students and families about how support is provided.
When appropriate, I include parents in the process by sharing brief summaries of our work and next steps. These updates are designed to reduce stress and clarify expectations while keeping the student’s independence and responsibility at the center.
A Supportive, Thoughtful Partnership
Applying to college can be an overwhelming experience for students and families alike. I aim to make the writing process more manageable, more reflective, and more humane. My goal is not simply to help students produce strong essays, but to help them develop the confidence and skills to express themselves thoughtfully—now and in future academic work.
